Last month I was asked to design a kit for My Scrapbook Nook. Since I can't seem to get a picture to upload - you'll have to click on the link to see it. It was fun to put together a few things and design this layout just for them. I had to keep the retail value around $12 and change - which these days...for a 2 page layout isn't the easiest thing to do if you want to use chipboard and flowers and rubons etc. With paper pushing 80 cents for one sheet...by the time you get the 2 base pages plus a couple other sheets with coordinating patterns...you've almost reached 50% of the budget. But I was able to pull together 5 different paper patterns, almost 2 feet of ribbon, some awesome American Crafts alpha stickers, rhinestones, some way cool Bazzill flowers, and I believe they put in a sheet of Heidi Swapp sandpaper in there too (because I used that to sand the AC alpha stickers). Not bad eh? I could easily do this for a living. I would love to design kits every month. hmmmmm.....
I am just finishing an altered project tonight and I'm really diggin' how it turned out. I cannot share it right now...but if you sign up for the newsletter at Ladybugs and Little Hugs (click on Subscribe to The Buzz), you will get it in your Inbox in a couple months.
Which brings me to ask...when was the last time you used the Making Memories wire/mesh sheets? I used some tonight and I realize that I miss it. I love the texture it adds without being obnoxious. It only takes a sliver of this stuff to make a difference. I can probably find it on clearance somewhere since nobody uses it anymore. If you know where I can find this cheap - let me know. :) You WILL be seeing it on some future projects.
